This Sunday was a rainy day. My wash drier did stop working: all wet clothes normally I attach on my luggage. Sun and wind then dry it in half a day. Now between Aarburg and Soloturn the sky became dark and some thunder and lightning convincede to put the clothes in my rucksack.
Until Biel I followed the river Aare, then the east coast of the lake. At the end along the canal de la Thièlle to the lake of Neuchâtel. There I decided to stay on the cycle route 5.
In Estavayer-le-lac people seem to adore frogs, at least the town was decorated by them and there is also a frog’s museum.
Near Yvonand I pitched my tent on a campsite. I first got a muddy place, but after my complaint at the reception, I took a drier place with green grass.
Distance today: 144 km.

To Aarburg
Some kilometers after I started there was a nice ascent to Fürstenberg with a mice view over the Danube valley. The way down was less steep, so I was able to cycle with a good speed. Btw the highest speed was 65 km/h today.
Then I crossed the steam line Sauschwänzlebahn (Pig Tail Railroad) multiple times.
As yesterday temperatures were pretty high speed again (37 degrees Celsius according my bicycle computer) , I had to drink am awful lot of water. In Switzerland they serve nice cooled water directly near the cycle path.
Between Lauchringen and Kadelburg Komoot routed me over a mountain bike path with a steep ascent on a gravel. That might have been shorter, but surely it took a lot more time and Energy. I crossed the Rhine an the Swiss border in Bad Zurzach and had a second avoidable ascent to the Aare Valley. So in future cross the Rhine in Koblenz; this leads directly to the Aare.
At the end of the day I found a campsite in Aarburg with an impressive Fortess.
Today I cycled 116 km.
Zavelstein to Donaueschingen
The start at Zavelstein was Downhill to the river Nagold, so speed was nearly 60 km/h. Then following the river to the town Nagold. The cycle path was not accessible at the first part, so I had to switch to a main road. I created my tour with Komoot and I have not see that high quality for a cycle tour earlier. It is nearly always on cycle patches and minor roads. There we some steep ascents and that costed some energy with my heavy bike. Also temperatures were above 30 degrees Celsius, I drunk round about 7 liters of water.
In Villingen I saw the faked source of the river Neckar. At the end of the day I crossed the Danube and found a camp site, where I pitched my tent.
Interesting for Iris: my neighbour cyclists have their child of the same age as Aaron in a trailer.
Today I covered 128 km.
