The first km’s today were on a signposted cycle route (as all days before). After the route turned to the north, I had to rely on, what naviki routed for me. Most time I found decent minor roads with nearly no traffic, not even cyclists. But thrice I had to pass an unannounced ford. I could avoid al times the bath in dirty water, because there was a narrow plank for pedestrians. Also some unpaved ways came across, one of them changed into a narrow single track through bushes. I had to dismount multiple times, but I could pass all ways an tracks with my extrawheel trailer. It surely was not good for normal trailers.
The first surprise on my route was Souvigny, a town and Monastery founded by the Cluny brotherhood. One big cathedral multiple other churches and chapels and other historical buildings.
A next surprise was a view to the west after I reached 450 m height (coming from about 220 m)
A short rain shower I awaited dry under a tree. Down to Montluçon was rather steep and so was the climb to leave the town after crossing the river Cher.
This evening the camping really exists, but  had my doubts, because the first official sign I detected, was only 100 m before the camping itself.

From Paray-le-Monial I continued on the bridleway along the Canal du Centre. So again a lot of locks to pass, which is more time consuming for the ships as for a bicycle. But it is not easy, because cyclists have to pass narrow gates, that should prevent motorists to use the bridleway. I think,this is a bad solution.
In Digion I tried to find an alimentary shop, but I wasn’t successful and continued via the aqueduct over the Loire river. In a small village, some kilometers later, the OSM map indicated, there would be a shop. This shop might have existed, but it surely was already closed as that part of the map was explored.
In Dompierre I left the bridle way and had to cross the plateau between Loire and Allier. The height varied between 220 m and 280 m without steep ascends.
As destination for today I choose the camping site in Moulins. As I arrived it was not a camping any more but an area for camping cars only. The rear side of the old  camping was closed for the cars. The next camping would be in 15 km in the wrong direction and I wanted to see the town, so I decided to stay here for the night.

The day started with reasonable temperatures but later the day it was not comfortable to ride the bike. Some 15 km after start I approached Chalon sur Saône. Here I had two choose out of 2 tracks: One called ‘on old St James ways and the other follows the Canal du Centre to the Loire valley. On the pilgrims track I detected some steep ascents that would be a problem in the heat, so I opted for the canal route that I cycled earlier in 1982. In a supermarket in Chagny  I bought additional water. Though the European cycle path no 6 does not follow the canal exactly I did this to avoid unnecessary ascends. I had to share the road sometimes with cars, but there was nearly no traffic thanks the route national parallel to my route.
In Montceau-les-Mines I bought some water again (Aldi). Inside the shop temperatures were very low. as I went out again I felt like going into Dead Valley an needed 10 minutes before I could continue to cycle.. At the end the day I wanted to cycle to a camping at Volesvre, but the road was that steep (or my bicycle too heavy, that I decide to continue some more 6 km to Paray-le-Morial.
